Namesake of the world’s largest living thing (as well as one of the tallest and oldest), Sequoia National Park is an incredible landscape. From tall trees to deep canyons, snow-capped mountains and glaciers to rushing rivers, this park traverses some of the Lower 48’s most beautiful landscape. Easily accessible trails attract the bulk of the park’s visitors, but a vast and isolated wilderness awaits those willing to make the effort to venture beyond the popular attractions. Adjoining Kings Canyon National Park (which is jointly managed with Sequoia) offers more off-the-beaten-path options and solitude, along with more jaw-dropping scenery.
