Hey everyone. You may have noticed the updates haven’t been coming quite as quickly as they used to, and I just wanted to write a quick note to let you know why. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working with an awesome designer (and one of the very first readers of this site) to create a brand new, super snazzy visual overhaul of all things Modern Hiker. Although once it launches I’ll still have some work to do behind the scenes, we hope to pull back the curtains on all the new hotness in the next few weeks.
In addition to the new look, I’ll also be revisiting all of my old write-ups to make sure all the trail info has a consistent tone and presentation, working on some new tech and content for the Modern Hiker iPhone App (which should also, if things go according to plan, finally have an Android companion in time for the fall hiking season), and even researching some options for Modern Hiker merch. I’ve still got dozens more trails to write up from my Utah / Arizona trip earlier this year, and plans to lead a few more group hikes around L.A. once I can get some of this maintenance work out of the way. All this, of course, while I started a new job launching a live show on the new pivot network!
So thank you, once again, for reading and sharing Modern Hiker – and please pardon the dust as we’re working behind the scenes. The mock-ups I’ve seen look pretty awesome, and I hope you’re as excited as I am about taking Modern Hiker into its next phase.
As always, hike well and happy trails.
– Casey
