If you’re going to head to Death Valley, you really want to have access to a 4WD vehicle with high clearance. There’s a lot you can see in a normal passenger car, but if you really want to get into the desolate backcountry that makes up the majority of the National Park, you’ll want a little upgrade.

The L.A. Times travel section just posted a story about using both a local jeep tour company and a local jeep rental company to get into the tucked-away corners of the hottest, lowest place in the country.

If you happen to be planning a trip, you might want to check this information out … and you might want to head up pretty soon – it’s going to start getting unbearable up there in a few weeks!
