The Pacific Crest Trail Association is holding its annual Trail Fest in Big Bear Lake this weekend.
The event will open on Friday evening with a casual reception and some readings from the authors of The Pacific Crest Trailside Reader before kicking off on Saturday with a number of seminars and classes including trail maintenance, trail photography, hikers’ gear, planning logistics for hiking the PCT, and another chance to see some behind the scenes footage of The Muir Project’s Mile … Mile and a Half.
Saturday ends with a banquet dinner and a screening of a National Geographic documentary about the Pacific Crest Trail. For more information and a complete schedule, head to the PCTA web site.
Preregistration for the classes is already closed, but I’m told there are some walk-ins available. And hey, if you can’t get it, just get some good hiking done instead!
