The next time you’re out at your favorite hiking destination, be sure to pack your video-recording device. If you take a good 360-degree panorama, Jansport might give you a cool $10,000.
As part of their “What’s Your Outdoors” contest, the veteran pack-maker is asking outdoor-lovers to record clockwise panoramic videos of their favorite natural areas. They’ll be stitching them all together in a “neverending chain” on their web site, with one lucky winner getting $10k and 4 Jansport bags of their choice. 50 runners-up will also receive their pick of any Jansport bag.
The contest ends August 31st, 2011, so if you haven’t taken any trail video yet there’s still a lot of time. Videos must be in a clockwise panorama, between 10 and 30 seconds long, and be accompanied with a brief statement as to why this particular location is your favorite place. If you’ve got any people in your panorama, you also need a signed release form from them – and any entries that use video editing software to enhance the view will be disqualified. Videos will be judged on the uniqueness and beauty of the chosen location, the creativity of the video, and the strength of the written statement. A full set of the rules and regulations can be found here.
