We are very excited to announce a joint event with our friends at REI – a sunset Instameet at Ernest E. Debs Regional Park.
Join REI and Modern Hiker on Saturday, March 28th from 6 to 8 PM for an easy, 1.5-mile hike from the Audubon Center to Peanut Lake. Along the way, we’ll soak in the beautiful SoCal sunset and watch the lights come on in downtown L.A. Meet your fellow Modern Hikers, get some killer snapshots for your Instagram feeds, and check out some of the newest backpacking gear from REI. We’ll have several Big Agnes mtnGLO tents with built-in LED lighting set up along the route, and you can also try on the brand new Osprey Atmos 65 AG EX pack.
We’ll be raffling off an REI gift card to our group – and we’ll also have some campground-appropriate snacks set up at the lake for everyone to enjoy as the sun sets.

There is limited parking available at the entrance near the Audubon Center as well as parking along Ave 52.
Bring water, snacks, bug spray, and a headlamp or flashlight if you’re not used to hiking in the dark.
