Photo Friday – September 19, 2014

It’s time for another Photo Friday to kick start your weekend, which means it’s time for me to feature four great new images from Modern Hiker readers. Once again, the #modernhiker tag on Instagram is becoming a really fun place to browse wonderful outdoor photography.

Let’s kick things off with mathieusarah, who was planning on going surfing but decided to go hiking instead. It’s a typical SoCal dilemma 🙂 If you’re looking for a similar view, I recommend hitting up the Los Liones Trail or Charmlee Wilderness Park.

Joshua Wirsching returns to Photo Friday with this shot of a beaver dam at Lundy Lake in the Eastern Sierra – a great place to get some elevation and avoid heat if you’re looking for an excuse to visit.

Nicoletta Bozhilova is a geologist by trade, but that doesn’t mean she can’t enjoy some botany in her spare time. The thick forests of Muir Woods are definitely a great place for that!

And finally, Angela is based in the Pacific Northwest and shared this image from a recent backpacking trip to Sloan Peak.

All four will be receiving a coupon good for a discount from our friends at Sierra Trading Post that’s good through the end of the month.

Remember, if you’d like to get your photo featured on Modern Hiker, just tag it with #modernhiker on Instagram or share it on our Flickr group page.

Now go out there and have an awesome weekend!
