It’s the day before the weekend starts, which means it’s time once again to see just what incredible photographers Modern Hiker readers can be.
Dave Ferrick reminds us how lucky we all are to live in California by showing off frigid Walden Pond from my native New England. Might be time to re-read Walden on my Kindle … which, for some reason, appears to be FREE right now!
Reader Matt McDaid tweeted me this epic panorama shot from Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, then added it to the Modern Hiker Flickr pool for posterity. It’s definitely worth blowing up to full-size — and it’s definitely worth visiting the park before it gets too hot, too!
And now, since it’s spring and wildflower season, here’s a nice close-up shot of what looks like an Indian Paintbrush or snow plant in bloom (maybe a botanically inclined reader can correct me!) from reader grognd.
And finally, Pete Morris photographed this gorgeous lone Davy gillia … which is currently in the mix in the bloom at Saddleback Butte State Park.
Thanks again to everyone who submitted – I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record but every time I check in on the Modern Hiker Flickr Group it thrills me to see how many of you are out enjoying the wilderness.
Next Saturday I’m leaving for Jordan – so if you’ve got some favorite international travel shots, add those to the group for next week!
