Photo Friday – July 18, 2014

Well, I take one week off to go traveling and I’m flooded with awesome photos from readers when I get back. That’s not a bad way to come home!

It looks like you’ve been pretty busy lately – we’ve got hiking snapshots from all over California this week, starting with David Reskin‘s beautiful Crescent City sunset.

Next, Recosgrove spent some time in the Sequoia National Forest over the long weekend and snapped this great view of a hiker at the edge of Big Baldy:

And ever since I opened up Photo Friday’s to Instagram, you’ve been great about tagging your best shots with #modernhiker. Since it’s still so dang dry out here, I was really feeling this shot of Rainbow Falls at Devil’s Postpile from Iheartmutts:

And finally, frequent canine-hiker Justkateh posted a pic of her two four-legged buddies taking a break in the shade.

Also, I’d like to give a special shout-out to frequent contributor Jon Bradley, who – according to his Flickr photostream – looks like he successfully accomplished the Adventure 16 Three Peaks Challenge! He submitted this beautiful shot of alpenglow on Ontario Peak … presumably while he was racing up all those peaks.

Congratulations and nice work, Jon! Hope you’re stretching those legs out somewhere comfortable this weekend!

Thanks to everyone who submitted and continues to submit their images for Photo Friday. Remember, you can add your images to the Modern Hiker Flickr Pool or by tagging your images on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #modernhiker. And don’t forget – if you take a photo with your Modern Hiker gear, you can win a coupon good for 20% off your next order at Sierra Trading Post in our June(ish) Gloom Contest, now extended through July 24th!
