Photo Friday – January 9, 2015

It’s a brand new year and we’re closing out the first (full) week of 2015 with our first Photo Friday.

I had a lot of beautiful shots to go through – it looks like people were busy taking advantage of our snow over the holidays – or just getting out to travel around!

First up, the seemingly always hiking CA_hiker just visited San Gabriel Peak – and just had to get a little bit higher than the mountain’s official elevation.

Alex looks like he got some great time in the snow over the holiday. His feed is full of epic wintry shots, but this great one in front of the Baldy Bowl caught our eye.

A lot of times, lighting is what makes or breaks a shot – or can make it a little stranger than you initially thought it would be. The golden hour light from a sunset on the side of Cahuenga Peak struck the trail in a way that made one of Luke Curran‘s photos seem like the trail itself was glowing just around the corner.

Good timing, walked into the last bit of sunset glow Saturday night. #sunset

And keeping with the light theme, C.R.A.I.G.‘s nighttime shot in Joshua Tree definitely makes us want to grab our tents and do some stargazing of our own.

For being featured in our Photo Friday, everyone will receive a code for 30% off their next order at Sierra Trading Post, good through the end of the month.

To get your photos featured, tag your shots with #modernhiker on Instagram and Twitter or submit them to the Modern Hiker Flickr Group!
