Runyon Canyon 001 Parking at Runyon Canyon – one of the most accessible and popular hikes in Los Angeles – is about to get a bit more difficult.

Due to complaints about parking by residents, the Los Angeles City Council approved a recommendation of restricted parking on the streets immediately south of Runyon Canyon Park. It is not yet clear what the restrictions will be or when they would go into effect, as the restrictions are subject to reconsideration under city council rules, according to the Hollywood Patch.

The Department of Transportation is recommending a 2-hour only parking area from 8AM to 7PM Monday through Friday, with exceptions for residential permit-holders. Although it’s unclear from the Patch article, it seems like there would be no parking for those without permits on the weekends.

Affected streets will include Franklin and Sierra Bonita Avenues and Gardner Street near the southern entrance to the park.
