Earlier this year, Modern Hiker was proud to join several other top-notch local L.A. blogs as part of the Know What App – now I’m proud to announce the Modern Hiker slate of hikes and information is being spun off into its very own app!

The new Modern Hiker app features 27 of my favorite hikes in and around L.A. from Malibu to the Hollywood Sign to Joshua Tree – all at the touch of your iPhone. Each hike features the detailed write-ups and photos I’ve been gathering here on the site for years — and each hike has turn-by-turn directions to the trailhead, too!

We’ve also included additional web links and the phone numbers of nearby ranger stations where applicable. This is a great and quick way to access trail info and figure out where you want to go before you hit the road … and it helps support the Modern Hiker site, too!

So give it a download and let us know what you think. The app goes on sale today for $1.99 on the iTunes Store – with an Android Version on the way, too. The team at Escape Apps and I will make sure all the information is as up-to-date as possible, and I’ll let you know when the next batch of hikes is ready to be added.
