New Zealand is known for its unbelievable hiking, even though for some reason they insist on calling it “tramping.”
With a nationwide system of trails, maintained camping huts, and backpacker-friendly travel services, the Land of Peter Jackson has a well-deserved reputation. But one hike in particular – The Milford Track – a.k.a “the finest walk in the world” – even had the power to break through the cynicism of a Canadian newspaper’s travel writer.
The short article is a nice first-hand experience of hiking the 53 mile trail. If I wasn’t already plotting and scheming to get out to New Zealand within the next year, reading this might have sealed the deal.
And if THAT didn’t, a quick look at some of the images from the trail would have definitely done so.
