This Saturday, August 15th, the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area Visitor Center in Thousand Oaks will let you take a virtual tour of the nearly-completed 67.79 mile Backbone Trail.
National Park Service volunteer photographer Jim Belsley will present a virtual tour of the trail with photographs and maps, with the assistance of experienced Backbone Trail hikers from 2 to 2:30 PM. If you wanted to learn more about the trail system, or were thinking of planning your own trek for later in the year when it’s not too hot, this is a great opportunity to ask questions of hikers who walk the route regularly.
The well-stocked Visitor Center is located at 401 West Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks, just off the 101. For more information, call 805-370-2301.
