For those of you who don’t know, my friend and fellow (formerly) L.A. based hiker Kolby Kirk (pictured in trail mode at left) has been hiking the Pacific Crest Trail for a few months and has recently hit a snag.
Earlier this year, Kolby was laid off from work and decided that was a good cue to hike the trail he’d always dreamed of hiking. He doesn’t think he’ll be able to finish the trail before the winter storms start to hit the Cascades, but he’d at least like to be able to make it to Bend, Oregon – where the last two generations of his family put down roots and he plans to do the same. Unfortunately he is running out of cash for supplies and may not be able to make it unless he gets a little help.
If you weren’t lucky enough to meet Kolby before he laced up his boots and walked north, just know that he has done a tremendous amount of work spreading the good word of L.A. hiking over the past few years. He’s also one of the most genuine, nicest guys you’ll ever meet – so if you have a few extra bucks, consider donating them to his efforts by using PayPal to send whatever you can to [email protected].
