This just in – the East Fork of the San Gabriel River is high and fast right now … and presumably cold, too – but it’s always that way.
Kolby was kind enough to update my write-up of the hike to the Bridge to Nowhere – one of the best hikes L.A. has to offer – with some observations from a recent trip.
He also took some pretty great video footage of the first river crossing on the trail. I usually don’t hike the East Fork until later in the summer, so I’ve never seen the water this high – but I have heard from other hikers that it’s not that uncommon in the spring. So if you’re heading to this trail anytime soon, take a few safety tips from Kolby and cross correctly:
