The National Wildlife Fund has a new web site that aims to help people who want to get outside and do something, but just don’t know exactly where they should be going.
It’s called Nature Find, and it’s a pretty slick search site, integrated with Google Maps. You can set a search radius and look for sites based on activity – like walking, nature events, snow sports, etc. – or by site type – like trails, national monuments, nature centers, and places like arboretums, observatories, and science museums.
The site still looks like it’s missing a lot of information – and some of the inclusions are questionable for the National Wildlife Fund — LACMA and the Museum of Jurassic Technology are included in the museums category, but more nature-y museums like the Page Museum and the Getty are left off — and the Trails category is very lacking right now, but it’s still a good way to find out what interesting knowledge-type stuff is in your neighborhood, or where you happen to be traveling.
