In honor of Veterans’ Day, National Forests and Parks around the country are holding their final Fee-Free Days of 2011.
From Friday, November 11th through Sunday, November 13th, entrance fees and Adventure Passes will be waived at all National Forests and National Parks, including the Angeles, San Bernardino, Cleveland, and Los Padres National Forests as well as Joshua Tree, Death Valley, Sequoia and Kings Canyon and Yosemite National Parks and more. Camping reservations, concessions, and other stuff you’d normally have to pay for is still going on, though.
Unfortunately, it also looks like we’re about to get another winter storm this weekend – one that has the potential to leave an inch of precipitation behind in Southern California – as well as some potential snow in the mountains. The storm is expected to roll in late Friday evening and leave on Saturday – which means Sunday and Monday might have some good hiking weather if the clouds clear out of here.
So get outside this weekend for the novelty of hiking in the rain, save a few bucks – and thank a Veteran while you’re at it!
