If your gear closet (or corner of the apartment) has a pair of boots or two that don’t see much trail action anymore, you might want to consider donating them to the Soles 4 Souls project.
Reader Jesse posted a link to this charity over on the Modern Hiker Facebook page to let me know that all Sports Chalet locations are accepting donations of used and lightly worn men’s, women’s, and children’s shoes now through Sunday, April 10th.
All shoes donated will be shipped to Japan to help aid those who have lost so much in the recent earthquake-tsunami-radiation triple punch. If you don’t have shoes to spare, there’s always the good ol’ Red Cross, too.
