This week is National Park Week. All of the 401 National Park sites around the country will be celebrating with special events and Junior Ranger programs — and EVERY National Park will waive admission fees from Monday, April 22nd through Friday, April 26th!
To coincide with this, outdoor appsmiths Chimani are releasing five new apps for National Parks, covering Grand Teton National Park, Glacier National Park, Olympic National Park, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and Bryce Canyon National Park. The apps will feature all the same mobile park guide info that I dug when they released their first round of apps, but this time — all the apps will be free!
These apps will contain all the updated park info, ranger schedules, transportation help, and crowdsourced topo maps as the last round and, like the other Chimani Apps, don’t need a cell signal to work in the field. All the new apps will also have an optional in-app upgrade of an augmented reality viewer that will show off points of interest inside the parks.
The apps are available on the Apple App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon AppStore.
