I got my copy of the Backpacker Maps Issue in the mail today, and it definitely lives up to its title – it’s 104 pages on cartography, Google Maps, mobile phone apps, GPS, and even a roundtable discussion on the future of mapping.

Also of note – yours truly is mentioned in the California section as a “Reader Expert.” A while back, the editors asked me a few questions about hiking in Southern California. I wrote about 5 pages worth of information on 15 different questions, but this is the magazine business – so it all got boiled down to this:

Oh well. Still pretty neat!
