If you’re in the mood to escape some of this heat but still get a decent hike in, Mount Baldy is doing another full moon hike this Friday, September 9th.
The hike begins at the bottom of the ski lift and ends at the Baldy Notch lodge, where you’ll be fed some tri-tip and chicken skewers and veggies and serenaded by live music. I went on the last hike and had a great time – so if you’ve been thinking about trying this out, pick up a ticket on the Mount Baldy web site, bring it to the ski lift for your dinner ticket, and hike up to the stars.
For some reason, I can’t link to this information on the Baldy site, but here is their description of this weekend’s event:
Moonlight Hike night is back for number 4 of our 5 night summer series. A huge thanks to all of you that made it up for our biggest hike yet. With school starting the following week it seemed lots of us really wanted to finish out summer with a bang.
This month we will be getting back to the basics with our original menu and limiting ticket sales. For September’s hike we will be serving 24 hour marinated Tri Tip, BBQ chicken, roasted potatoes, and Missy Salad will all be back on the menu this month. As well as a new new vegetable medley that we are sure will be a hit with everyone.
This months moon will be similar to last months, however it will rise a bit earlier which will make for the canyon to brighten up sooner. The moon should be directly over head at 11:14pm. Also we are beginning to see hints of fall which means sunset season. Needless to say the September Moonlight Hike is going to be a great night.
Dinner will be served from 6:30pm to 8:30pm
(remember we will have a limited amount tickets this month so tell all your friends to get on it early)Moonrise – 5:33 PM
Moonset – 4:03 AM
Moon @ 95.6%
