2 years ago the ambitious One Day on Earth project compiled footage from more than 7000 filmmakers all over the world into a documentary about what people were doing on a single day. Now, the team is at it again – the time with several smaller, more focused projects on the stories and people of 11 American cities – including, of course, Los Angeles.
The project is asking anyone who wants to participate to head out with a camera on Saturday, April 26th to document their experience in their city and try to answer some questions – like what you love about your city, what its greatest challenges are, and what you think the future holds for it.

I’m very happy to announce that Modern Hiker is an Official Partner of this project. I’ll be leading a hike somewhere on the morning of April 26th to highlight the importance of the natural environment to Angelenos and I would love for you to join me on the trail and – if you’re up for it – on camera to share some of your thoughts. Part of the reason I started this site was to help more people discover that there was more to L.A. than the Walk of Fame and Rodeo Drive – and since 2006 this region’s hiking trails are what made me truly fall in love with the city and see it in a completely different light. I’m incredibly excited to be a part of this project and I hope you’ll join me in April to share your own L.A. nature experiences!
