If you’ve ever been on the trail, awestruck by a soaring hawk gliding effortlessly on a thermal current, but wanted to describe it as something more than “that one big bird up there,” maybe you should swing by Temescal Gateway Park on January 20th.
Santa Monica College biology professor Walt Sakai will give a free lecture on the characteristics and habits of local birds, courtesy of the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority.
The lecture will start at 7:30 p.m. in Woodland Hall in the park, located at 15601 Sunset Blvd.
