If you’re like me, you’ve looked at photos of the recently burned Point Mugu State Park and wondered if there was something – anything you could do to help.
Well, it looks like the park isn’t taking this whole fire business lying down. Not only did they re-open almost every single trail just a few weeks after the blaze, but they’re already organizing two volunteer cleanup events.
On Saturday, June 22nd from 8AM to noon, the Park is organizing a watering project to help newly planted natives in the riparian area near Rancho Sierra Vista and a trail maintenance project to help clear and repair the trails damaged by the fire and its aftermath. The water project is less strenuous and open to kids aged 10 and over, while the trail maintenance requires more strenuous work and a 3-4 mile hike and is open for those 18 and over.
If you are interested in volunteering, the Park asks that you RSVP so they know how many people to expect.
