Well – this has been on my to-do list for a long, long time … and now it’s finally happening: I’m leading a group hike!
In what I hope will become a semi-regular event, at 9AM on Sunday, June 16th, I will lead a hike to Cahuenga Peak up the western side of Griffith Park with a short side trip to L.A.’s very own Wisdom Tree.
We’ll meet at the corner of Lake Hollywood and Wonder View Drive (plenty of free street parking), head up the trail to the tree and then take the fun, rugged route to Cahuenga Peak and the Hollywood Sign before backtracking our steps. The whole thing should probably take less than 2 hours – but it depends on how big the group is (most of the trail is single track so there may be some bottlenecks).
Because this is a first time thing, you are all coming along at your own risk. Everyone should bring their own ten essentials (extra water if it’s hot!) and we’ll do our best to go at a moderate pace for everyone. This hike has a few steep drop offs and slippery areas but is suitable for all but the clumsiest beginners. Dogs are OK in Griffith Park – just please make sure your four-legged friend is well behaved and has enough water.
Read everything you need to know about the trail right here – and I hope to see you on June 16th!
Just so I have an idea of how many people to expect, please RSVP on the Facebook Event Page (or if you’re not into social media, just leave a comment).
