New Wildflower Exhibit At The San Diego Natural History Museum

California is known for many things, including its beautiful annual wildflower blooms all over the state. As of Spring 2021, Photographers Rob Badger and Nita Winter are exhibiting their stunning wildflower photographs at the San Diego Natural History Museum. The exhibit, titled “California Blooming,” features 35 original photographs taken by the duo over the course of 27 years, including photos of some famous superblooms.

Badger and Winter, who also authored the book Beauty and the Beast: California Wildflowers and Climate Change, helped curate the exhibit alongside the museum.

Climate change is threatening the longevity and beauty of California’s unique and beautiful wildflowers. Not only does this exhibit showcase beautiful photographs, but also brings up the topic of how climate change is affecting our natural landscapes. The museum also hosted a talk, along with the Climate Science Alliance, as part of their Nat Talk Climate Series.

The exhibit is now open, so go plan your road trip (hint: spring time is wildflower season!) and grab your tickets (and maybe plan a hike in Balboa Park while you’re there). And if you can’t make it to the museum, you can still check out the climate talk here!
