I know a lot of y’all love hiking with your pups. Emmy the Modern Hiker Pitbull is getting on in years but we still manage to get her paws dirty whenever we can, so for all my fellow dog-hikers, the Amazon Prime Video show The Pack is running a fun and active challenge to benefit animal-focused nonprofits. And you and your pup can snag some terrific prizes, too!
The Pack Walk Challenge, hosted by Under Armor Connected Fitness (makers of MapMyFitness and MyFitnessPal), offers humans and their dogs the opportunity to walk or hike for a cause and to win prizes, too. Some of the prizes include travel vouchers, customized pet products and gifts, free doggie daycare and more. The Challenge, depending upon the app, is to complete 20 workouts in 30 days or 30 miles in 30 days — a noble goal during this time of pandemic shutdowns and stress eating rich foods … or maybe that’s just me? Don’t forget to use our Hike Finder’s dog-friendly filter for some good trail ideas near you, too.
You can also sign-up to walk for a good cause as there will be opportunities throughout the walk to donate to The Pack’s three (3) charities – all which have benefits to both humans and dogs: Best Friends Animal Society, the American Heart Association and the Environmental Defense Fund. You can donate to the charities at any time during the challenge but during Packed Weekend, on Saturday, November 21st, all donations will be matched up to $100k by Amazon. That’s not too shabby.
The Pack Walk Challenge begins on November 20th and runs through December 19th, giving you a month to get in those miles or workouts.
The Pack is a reality-competition, action adventure show hosted by Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn and featuring dogs and their owners traveling around the world, completing missions for charity and showing the strength of the bond between humans and their pets.
