Tomorrow is National Public Lands Day, which means many National Parks, Monuments, and Forests will be holding a fee-free day on Saturday, September 29th to help encourage people to get outside and enjoy themselves. The full list of National Parks participating in the Fee-Free day is online at the NPS web site, and our nearby National Forests will be Adventure Pass-free on Saturday as well.

Of course, it’s not all just fun and games – more than 170,000 volunteers are expected to help out at over 2,100 sites all across the country. In addition to giving back to the land and helping out your fellow Americans, volunteers will also receive a coupon good for one fee-free entry into ANY participating federal land, and that coupon is good for a full year.

There are a few events in Los Angeles and the surrounding cities, as well as a cleanup near the Wildwood Picnic Area in the Angeles National Forest. To find and register for a volunteer event, head to the National Public Lands Day Volunteer Map. The Wilderness Society also has a few other ways you can get involved and spread the word.
