That means it’s time to start following California Fall Color again. The site has the awesome tagline “Dude, autumn happens here, too” and is constantly updated with foliage reports from all over the state.
SoCal will start getting tiny pockets of color in the canyons and higher elevations in a while, but if you’re willing to drive for a bit, some of the Eastern Sierras and northern California are already showing quite a bit of fall color, and even areas like Mammoth Lakes are starting to show a bit, too.
If this is your first California Fall – don’t expect a New England style color-explosion. But the subtle colors of our aspens and other native flora can be pretty amazing, too. Here’s a video California Fall Color just posted of the Eastern Sierra foliage from a few years back:
See? Pretty sweet, right?
This year, California Fall Color is making it even easier to keep up to date, with new Facebook and Twitter pages.
