If you wanted to level up your outdoor skills alongside a team of bonafide experts and also wanted the chance to meet some like-minded Angelenos and have a few fun adventures along the way, you’ll be interested to know that the Sierra Club’s Wilderness Travel Course has begun accepting applications for its 2013 classes.
In the 10-week course, you’ll learn skills ranging from orienteering and navigation to snow camping, first aid, and how to buy the best gear at the cheapest price. The course also includes a few weekend getaways to put your new knowledge to the test in four outings including day hikes, rock scrambles, and multi-day backpacking trips.
Early registrants get a little discount on the total price of the course – it’s $320 for Sierra Club Members and $355 for non-members from now through December 15th. Classroom sessions are held at four different SoCal locations between January 8th and April 10th. You can get more info at the Wilderness Travel Course web site.
