I’m happy to announce that the guys at National Geographic have provided me three copies of Andrew Skurka’s new Ultimate Hiker’s Gear Guide to give away to Modern Hiker readers – and all you have to do is a little bit of writing.

By noon, Pacific Time on Friday, March 30th, leave me a comment on this post telling me about your favorite on-the-trail face-palm gear moment – like when you spent three days preparing a gourmet camp meal for your backpacking buddies but forgot to check your stove fuel – or when you were caught descending down a trail-less mountainside in the dark without any headlamps and had to light someone’s sweater on fire for light.
