Platypus, makers of hydration packs, filters, and pretty much anything that has to do with carrying liquids to different places, also apparently have a dedicated wine reservoir.
They’re being billed as a way to preserve unfinished wine at home, but to me, a simple vacuum stopper seems like an easier way to preserve your favorite cabernet. I can see these being better used as a slightly lighter way to get a bit of vino into the backcountry on a light backpacking trip. You can fit an entire 750 mL bottle in one reservoir, then leave the bottle in your home recycling instead of trudging it in and packing it out. Save yourself a little weight — or just make up for that saved weight by packing in more wine.
They’re available for 13 bucks on the Platypus site.
