“Tending the Wild,” a joint production between KCET and the Autry Museum of the American West, is an upcoming multi-platform docu-series that shines a spotlight on traditional outdoor practices of California’s Native American communities and presents lessons we can use to address current environmental challenges.
This preview will go live tomorrow, October 5th, but Modern Hiker has a sneak preview for an episode that is near and dear to many hikers’ hearts — wildfires.
A preview of the series can be seen on the Tending the Wild site itself. The remaining episodes will be posted at KCET.org/TendingTheWild and LinkTV.org/TendingTheWild. The Tending the Wild series will also connect with the upcoming California Continued exhibit at the Autry, which features nearly 20,000 square feet of redesigned gallery and garden spaces and opens to the public on October 9, 2016.
The series will focus on four key California concepts: Salmon, Fire, Desert, and Plants, and looks like it will provide some fantastic insight into the stories of Native Californians that far too often goes untold.
