It’s (hopefully) your last day of meetings and work-type responsibilities before you can finally get outside to enjoy some nature time … which means you’re due for a dose of reader-submitted images in our Photo Friday.
We’re starting things out from the highest point inside Los Angeles city limits – Mount Lukens. No matter which way you approach this peak, it’s a tough climb – Benjamin took the route from Stone Canyon, which climbs just over 3100 feet on its way to the radio-towered peak. Climbers targeting much higher peaks have been known to use this trail for training days.
Just a bit further east, Cord snapped this beautiful clear-skies shot from the popular Sam Merrill Trail above Altadena (which is also the site of our February Go Hike L.A. event, in case you’re looking for an excuse to hike it!).
Frequent contributor Jon Bradley was just a bit further east in the San Gabriels, enjoying the surprisingly idyllic landscape of Monrovia Canyon.
And hey, what a difference a few thousand feet of elevation gain can make: Victor took this shot of his intrepid hiking buddy on their way up to Cucamonga Peak, one of the best places to take your “king/queen of the world” photos overlooking the sprawl of the foothill cities.
