With the end of another work week comes another round of fantastic outdoor photos from your fellow Modern Hiker readers – and hopefully a bit of inspiration to lace up your boots and get outside this weekend.

From the Modern Hiker Flickr Group Page, Chris sends us this beautifully lit shot from Zion National Park‘s Emerald Pools Trail. Although you won’t get the tree cover, visiting Zion in the winter is a great way to beat the crowds of the high season – and gives you a chance to explore and enjoy popular trails like this one all by yourself.

Closer to home, Danny Valdez trekked up to Mount Baldy and stopped for this portrait outside the historic San Antonio Ski Hut – a landmark for anyone hiking in Southern California.

I’m writing this update from New England, where it’s going to be 7 degrees once the sun goes down tonight (I’ll try to remember that once I get back to L.A. and complain about the chilliness of 60 degrees!). So, I’m very much enjoying Nathan and Katherine‘s cozy fireside shot from Quaking Aspen Camp in Sequoia National Park.

And finally, Julie Boyd took a trip up north to Big Sur and hiked one of my favorite routes up there – the Ewoldsen Trail.

Everyone featured this week will be receiving a code for a 30% discount from our friends at Sierra Trading Post.
