… those annual gifts that both depress you by reminding you how much money you’ve spent on outdoorsy stuff the past year AND get you excited about spending even more money seem to be hitting mailboxes this week.

I usually file mine away for a few months, until I get the desire to upgrade or buy some big piece of equipment. It’s my New Englander save-for-the-lean-times mentality. I just bought some snowpants, which I could have used my dividend on, but instead thought, “nah, I’ll save it for later.”

What about you? What’s the Next Big Item on your to-buy list? An upgrade? Replacement? Or entry-level equipment into something new? A whole bag full of freeze-dried ice cream?
