Griffith Park

Griffith Park is one of the largest municipal parks in the entire country, and home to some of the best hikes in Los Angeles, too.

At over 4300 acres, Griffith Park is four times the size of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park and more than five times the size of Central Park in New York! And it’s a lot more rugged than those parks, too. Hike to Cahuenga Peak, the highest point in the park. Or take one of the popular routes to Mount Hollywood or an easy stroll through Fern Dell. And don’t forget to visit the Griffith Observatory or Autry Museum while you’re at it.

No matter what kind of hikes you’re looking for, you’ll find something perfect here in Griffith Park.

Visit the original Batcave, look out for tarantulas, coyotes, deer, red-tailed hawks, or the famous mountain lion P-22. On weekends, you can use the Parkline Shuttle to get around Griffith Park without a car, too. With more than 50 miles of trails that are good year round, you’ll have a great time on these Griffith Park hikes.

And oh yeah, if you’re looking for the Hollywood Sign, that’s here, too. So read up and then start hiking!
